As part of the preparation to ensure high passing rates for the 2021 National Qualifying Examination for School Heads (NQESH), DepEd Quezon trained its cream of the crop principals and Public Schools District Supervisors (PSDSs) to prepare them in the construction of tests and session guides for the review sessions of aspiring principals, May 4-6.
This activity was implemented through the intervention dubbed as Project PUSH [Professional Upliftment for School Heads] initiated by Herbert D. Perez, OIC-Assistant Schools Division Superintendent. This project seeks to help the Division’s 834 test-takers seize the coveted NQESH laurels this year.
Dr. Carlo Magno of De La Salle University, Executive Officer of the Center for Learning and Assessment Development- Asia, delivered the key principles and strategies in constructing tests, and facilitated subsequent workshops among the participants.
Said training-workshop commenced with a walkthrough of the Philippine Professional Standards for School Heads (PPSSH). The discussion was led by Jaime F. Zara, Principal II of San Isidro Elementary School in General Luna, and Ferdinand T. Glor, PSDS.
To concentrate on their area of expertise, participants were grouped into three cluster domains, such as: a) Cluster Domain 1 which includes School Leadership, and Personal and Professional Attributes and Interpersonal Effectiveness; b) Cluster Domain 2 which covers Instructional Leadership, and Creating Student-Centered Learning Climate; and c) Cluster Domain 3 which comprises Human Resource Management and Professional Development, Parent Involvement and Community Partnership, and School Management and Operations.
With the full support of Dr. Elias Alicaya Jr. and the other OIC-ASDSs, this program is expected to bear fruits through the collaboration of well-trained facilitators and members of the technical working committee that was formed via the Office Memorandum No. 10, s. 2021 and oriented on April 7, 2021. Seeing incremental outcomes, the Top Management is convinced that together, the Division will PUSH forward.
