Paying importance to the welf are of SDO Quezon teachers, the Top Management (TM) helds its first virtual Huntahan sa Quezon-Teachers Edition via Zoom, December 2, 2020
In line with the implementation of the Threefold Feedback Mechanism of DepEd Quezon as per Division Memorandum No. 315, s. 2020, the TM through the fervent leadership of OIC-SDS Dr. Elias A. Alicaya, Jr., in participative management with OIC-ASDS Gregorio A. Co Jr., OIC-ASDS Gregorio T. Mueco, and OIC-ASDS Herbert D. Perez, a “huntahan” with teachers was conducted to better open channels of communication with them and generally enhance the Office’s basic education services through their feedback. The TM recognizes that in order to introduce positive changes and increase teachers’ satisfaction that will brink into improved performance, these precious human resources of the Department should be heard and informed of the recent developments or challenges in the delivery of quality and equitable education among Quezonian learners.
Planning Officer III Marbin Jeramil Fragata moderated the activity and presented the participants which were grouped into two (2) batches: Congressional Districts 1 and 3, and Congressional Districts 2 and 4. Each school was represented by one (1) teacher who has been expected to cascade relevant information among other teachers. The total teacher-participants was 959.
After setting the tone for the activity, OIC-SDS Alicaya presented the agenda which include: a) Managing classes in different modalities; b) Quarter 2 preparations and onward; c) Work arrangement of teachers and personnel; d) Feedback mechanism; and Arising issues in field operations. He discussed the assigned areas of the ASDSs who may assist them on their issues and concerns that may pertain to NOSI/NOSA, ERF, Forms 6 and 7, Travel Orders, etc. OIC-ASDS Co is in-charge of the first CD; OIC-ASDS Perez of the 2nd and 3rd CDs; and OIC-ASDS Mueco of the 4th CD. Then, guided by the DepEd Order No. 30, s. 2020 and the OUCI-2020-307, the school calendar was reviewed, of which OIC-SDS Alicaya inquired about the teachers’ accomplishments for the first quarter of the school year. He highlighted some important dates to remember, such as: December 12 (last day of Quarter 1); December 14-19 (in-service training); December 19 (start of Christmas break); and January 4 (resumption of classes). He reminded the teachers to find time to finish their work before December 12 so they can enjoy the rest of the break. He informed the teachers of the suggested activities which could be done from December 14-19, like performance review; performance planning; discussion of achievements and shortcomings in the implementation of programs; online meeting with parents; and thanksgiving program for school stakeholders. He also recommended to conduct mental health and social support for teachers; coordinate with parents and barangay officials through their school head about the conclusion of the first quarter; and look for partnerships with local radio and TV organizations for the free airing of any of the above said activities.
OIC-SDS Alicaya shared about the preparations for the upcoming quarter, including plans on limited F2F, shifting schedules, reduced class size, and class programming.
Then, OIC-ASDS Perez proceeded with the discussion of the work arrangement that is and should be implemented as per existing guidelines to ensure their safety in the exercise of duty. The latter part of the program was dedicated to the open forum, questions from teachers readily answered by the TM. The program’s curtain closed with the constant guide that teachers should be willing to share information and concerns to the TM for discussion or appropriate action, and that open communication should always form part of the SDO-school relations.
