CAVITE CITY - A total team effort! Quezon Dolphins registered four home runs in the first inning of their baseball elimination game against the Cavite Batters after dealing them with a great massacre in the diamond, 22-1, yesterday, solidifying their title contention in the 2023 Regional Athletic Association Meet (RAAM) at Montano Sports Complex, Caridad, Cavite City.
John Bert R. Garcia, 1st base man, unleased his power hit from a pitch and rolled the ball to the ground, but the defensive team was unable to catch the ball and have his first home run. Then three other players made a series of home runs, John Roland P. Dizon, 3rd base man, Mark Dave A. Ongotan, catcher, and Jason A. Mangana, 2nd base man.
Meanwhile, Ravin E. Amante, center fielder, led the team with a game high of 4 points and left the opposing team behind by 13 in the first inning, while the remaining team members have contributed at least a point each.
Cavite City batters never gave-up and continued with the battle, but the strong offensive and defensive play of the Dolphins remained supreme, because they only allowed a player from the opposing team to make a point in the dying part of the game.
Quezon little league showcased its dominance in the diamond in convincing fashion after coach Arvin Villare and Assistant coach Andy Peñaroyo reminded the boys to keep their A-game every time at-bat or on the defensive side.
“Let’s play our game! This is ours! Our goal is to win. Kaya mga bata always keep an eye on the ball nasa opensa o depensa man tayo.
Maglaro kayo nang masaya at yan ang una ninyong premyo. Bonus lamang ang panalo.” Mr. Villare mentioned in an interview.
He also expounded that these boys had prepared well for the game and their mindset is focused on winning.
“Gaano man po kaliit o kalaki ang lamang, ang nasa isip ko lamang po ay ang maglaro nang masaya kasama ang aking mga ka-teammates,” added by Ongotan, the catcher.
“Ngayon po na nakuha namin ang aming unang panalo sa unang laro, mataas po ang moral ng mga bata kaya’t natitiyak ko na gagawin nila ang lahat upang makahanap ng pwesto sa quarters to finals.” Mr. Villarde claimed.
On the other hand, Quezon Junior baseball team and elementary softball team suffered their first losses in the tournament, but their chances are still alive and ready to rekindle their form in their next game using the previous lessons learned in their defeat. (Rodel Briones, Candelaria West)
